In short
How do I implement usage-based billing?
Decide what you measure, such as minutes, tokens or requests, and how it is priced: per unit, graduated tiers, volume tiers or packages, with any free allowance. With TolaPay, you define a meter and a plan, then send one event per billable action to POST /api/v1/events with a unique transaction_id, so retries are never billed twice. TolaPay totals usage per customer, prices it at the end of the cycle and invoices it in NPR. Pair it with prepaid wallets and hard limits if customers should pay before they use.
The problem
What gets in the way today.
Double-billing on retries
A queue retries, a worker restarts, and the same call is counted twice. Customers notice.
Tier maths in a spreadsheet
Graduated or volume? Free allowance first or last? Somebody has to get it right every month.
Bills that surprise people
Usage-based customers want a ceiling. Without one, the first big bill is also the last.

Questions
Common questions.
What's the difference between graduated and volume pricing?
Graduated bills each band at its own rate, like income tax brackets. Volume bills every unit at the rate of the band the total falls into.
Can usage be prepaid?
Yes. Customers top up a wallet that usage draws down first, with low-balance alerts and an optional hard limit.
