Charging 13% VAT on SaaS in Nepal: what the invoice has to show
Tax-inclusive vs. exclusive pricing, what an invoice must carry, and how Tola Pay prints the VAT split, PAN and bank details automatically.
Draft — figures and wording to be reviewed by an accountant before publishing.

Software sold to customers in Nepal is subject to 13% VAT. The practical question for a SaaS founder is less whether and more how it appears: on the price, on the invoice, and in your books.
Inclusive or exclusive
A tax-inclusive price (रू 5,650 including VAT) is friendlier on a pricing page; a tax-exclusive price (रू 5,000 + 13%) is clearer for business customers who reclaim VAT. Tola Pay lets you choose per plan and always prints the split either way.
What the invoice must carry
Your legal name and PAN/VAT number, the customer's details, a sequential invoice number, each line with its amount, the VAT amount shown separately, the total, and how to pay. Tola Pay's invoice PDF includes all of these from your workspace settings, plus your bank details for transfers.
Keeping the books straight
Because the VAT line is computed per invoice from the same ledger that records the payment, your monthly VAT total is a report, not a spreadsheet exercise. Export from Analytics or pull /analytics/revenue from the API.
